Street Reconstruction in Downtown Kinderhook Completes

Latham, New York – Spectra Engineering, Architecture, and Surveying, P.C. has announced that the reconstruction of Hudson Street in the Village of Kinderhook, Columbia County, has recently been
completed.

“Fixing and widening the road in the business district of the village is important,” said Jim Dunham,
member of the Hudson Street Reconstruction Committee.

The project involved the replacement of 2,200 feet of roadway, sidewalks, new storm sewer, curbing, and selected crosswalks in the business district of the Village of Kinderhook. The roadway was completely removed and a full depth reconstruction of the village street was performed. New ADA compliant ramps and granite curbing was installed.

Spectra Engineering, Architecture, and Surveying, P.C. provided all surveying, engineering design, and construction inspection services. Construction was completed by Bob Talham, Inc. Total construction cost was $332,487. The Village of Kinderhook will be responsible for the future maintenance of the roadway.

“This is the ninth project that we have worked on with the Village of Kinderhook,” said Project Manager John Seligman, PE. “Over the years we have developed a great working relationship with the Village, which allows us to solve problems quickly and efficiently as they arise during construction.” Spectra will next be working on the replacement of the water line on Williams Street, planned for construction in 2012, and then the reconstruction of Albany Avenue at a date yet to be determined.
