Spectra provided bridge/culvert inspection services for the 2013-2014 Large Culvert Inspections for NYSDOT Regions 8 and 9.
Each bridge inspection consists of a visual assessment, field photographs, inventory verification, field measurements, sketches, and computerized report preparation for all 1,400 state owned culverts in the two regions. Spectra provided two of the four inspection teams needed for this contract.
The culverts inspected vary from stone masonry and concrete arches, simple and continuous multi-girders, cast-in-place concrete slabs, pre-stressed concrete box beams, timber arches and multi-girders, jack arches, pipe culverts, plate and through-girders. In urban areas culverts may extend hundreds of feet and require confined space training. Spectra is using the latest inspection equipment to compliment the visual inspection of these structures.
Software used included MS Office, Word Perfect, Corel Office Suite, and NYSDOT’s newly released Bridge Data Information Systems (BDIS) software for inspection reports.
